There's a winter storm going on, but I had to get to the bank for some time-critical things. Normally I'd bring my dog and my grown son with me (they both like the walk.) But today is not fit for man nor beast.

Walking to the bank this afternoon on the first thaw day of the season I spotted a picnic table emerging from under a snow bank.

I wish I had taken a picture. This winter has been epic.

On Wednesday I loaded the pickup truck up with empty buckets and trash cans and empty kitty litter containers and a shovel and drove to the town department of public works garage. I parked next to the sand pile and filled all my buckets with town sand ( Read more... )

I'm single parenting this week while B. is traveling.  I'm dealing with snow storms without a working snowblower, a boy who needs his own livery service, a dog who cannot find her tennis ball in the deep snow, and all the usual things associated with running a small business ( Read more... )

The sidewalks are a labyrinth with towering snow banks on the street side. Curb cuts are inventively placed to avoid the super piles on the corners. I can barely imagine how long it will take to melt it all.
